Engaging Talent Through HIV Care In Uganda

Pepal has worked with a global pharmaceutical organisation for over 10 years to deliver social impactful talent engagement programmes that enhance motivation, support retention, and enable employees to deliver social impact that aligns with company values.

One of the talent engagement initiatives created through this partnership was a collaborative programme with the Ugandan Ministry of Health, where colleagues partnered with frontline health workers to explore the HIV care landscape in Uganda, engage with People Living with HIV, and innovate solutions, with a particular focus on adolescent care.

This initiative aligned closely with the company values of getting closer to the patient, and reducing global barriers to care, as well as aligning with the participants personal values and passion for addressing the HIV burden in Uganda. After a six month hybrid engagement that included online sessions, and in-person clinic visits, participants were passionate about their experience, and the broader collaboration, acting as sponsors for future iterations of the programme.

As the manager of one programme participant said: “The Pepal experience is a great initiative – it’s our company credo in action. I noticed that my direct report came back from their experience with even higher motivation and lots of positive energy”

“For us, the programme is CSR, employee motivation AND career/skill development altogether…and giving people the ability to cope with extreme differences, it is a very rich education…”
